Warm sunshine

Stone wall and walk, trees in the distanceOn my way home from Parma today I stopped at Big Creek Parkway to walk a bit and enjoy the sunny day. The air was chilly, so I sat down against a sun-warmed stone wall to soak up a few rays. Nice.

I had to go to campus today to tie up some loose ends: signing course-substitution forms, mailing final evaluations to students, changing my phone and email messages to say I'll be gone until August 2009 (!). The last of these felt pretty great.

Talking with our office manager I discovered yet another task: cleaning my office. While I'm on sabbatical the college will hire a replacement lecturer who will need office space. Guess what? The space is my office.

The request is reasonable enough: clear the surface of my desk, one drawer, and half a bookshelf for the new person to use. Given the typical state of my office this will probably take a couple of hours. It's a good excuse to throw away a few things and organize the rest. So I guess I'll be back tomorrow.
