Sunset over water, gull on rockSunset

Gotta like the fact that the days are getting noticeably longer. I always realize it when I revise the homepage each day. The height of the image—in case you haven't noticed—is related to the length of the day. The formula is 3 minutes = 1 pixel.

Today's homepage picture is 189 pixels high because the day was 9 hours, 26 minutes long. On December 21, the shortest day of the year, it was 183 pixels, and it stayed that way for several days. But we're headed in the right direction now.

The sun was shining and it was about 35 degrees when I went out walking, a pleasant temperature for vigorous activity. My new system, since I always feel guilty getting in my car to drive to Edgewater Park for exercise, is to walk there and back, with a loop or two around the lower path. No car unless I'm taking the recycling to drop off at the park.

This route takes about an hour and a half if you include a couple of stops to take pictures. It's closer to two hours if the way back includes a stop at Gypsy Beans for a cappuchino, as it did today.
