Bank statement

Modified ATM screen, Bank of AmericaI love this hard-hitting yet non-destructive attack on Bank of America via stickers placed on their ATMs.

The campaign, sponsored by the Rainforest Action Network (RAN), took the message right to the customer by relabeling 85 San Francisco ATM screens. The RAN version lists several ways in which they say BoA is bankrupting America.

I'm not sure how ordinary folks trying to get cash for the weekend responded to this action, called a "gag" by some and "defacing" by others.

To one degree or another, every protest, every strike causes inconvenience for the public. In fact, if there's no disruption of normal life the protest will probably be ineffective. The whole point is to make people stop and think.

I'm wondering about the reaction of BoA customers, but a search of the San Francisco Chronicle website turned up nothing. Hmmm. Not newsworthy, I guess.

What do you think? If this happened to your bank's ATMs, how would you react?
