Semi-Courtesy

View of semi-trailer truck from behindDriving to an from Yellow Springs for a quick visit with friends I noticed more trucks on the Interstate than last year. Maybe the economy really is picking up. More trucks = more stuff bought, sold and shipped.

Since my halfway gas-saving measure is to set my cruise control at the speed limit, sit back and cruise in the slow lane, quite a few cars and trucks pass me. Trucks often are only moving slightly faster, so the process happens in slow motion.

When they get just a bit in front of me I watch for the driver to look in his right-hand mirror, then flash my headlights to let him know it's OK to pull over. Most drivers respond by flashing their tail lights.

Not sure why this tiny bit of courtesy on both our parts makes me feel good, but it does.
