Eiffel TowerThe Eiffel Tower was built between 1887 and 1889 by Gustave Eiffel as the entrance arch for a world's fair marking the 100th anniversary of the French revolution. It it located on the Camp de Mars next to the Seine River. The structure is 1,063 ft high and is one of the most recognized structures in the world. Gustave Eiffel engraved 72 names of French scientists, engineers and other notable people on the tower.

Visiting the Tower

The Eiffel tower is generally open from 9:30am to 11:00pm with longer hours in the summer months. The entrance fee can vary from 12 Euros to reach the upper most observation deck to 4.8 euros to take the elevator only as far as the first floor. Visitors may take the stairs or the elevator, although the stairs only reach the second floor.
