March 31, 2008:

We're sorry to announce that the 2008 Web Competition has been cancelled due to scheduling difficulties. We're working on developing and expanding the competition for 2009, so if you're not already on our email list, sign up below.

RECOGNIZE • ENCOURAGE  • REWARD

The Click! High School Web Competition was created to encourage and reward high school students from throughout Northeast Ohio who design and build websites, either on their own or as a class project. Any student or class in public or private high school may enter, as well as home-schooled high school age students.

RECOGNIZE

The annual competition, presented since 2002 by Cuyahoga Community College Visual Communication and Design department, has developed a challenging process in which student work is critically reviewed by a panel of professional web designers. The judges consider each site's content and technical qualities as well as its overall design. At least three judges score every website. Two or more semifinalists are chosen in each of several categories. For the final judging these are again graded and discussed by the judges to select first and second place winners in each category as well as on overall Grand Prize winner.

ENCOURAGE

In addition to prizes for the winners as described below, the Click! competition offers something to every competitor that in the long run may be worth even more: at the end of the competition we send each entrant the judges' comments on his/her entry. These professional evaluations have great educational value for the participants.

As one student promised after reading the comments on his site:
"This competition gave me an unparalleled advantage that I wouldn't have normally received by jumping into the deep, cold pool of professional web development."

REWARD

Each winner (or school in the case of a class project) receives a handsome framed award certificate. Other prizes will be announced shortly. In the past, prizes have included gift certificates as well as web hosting and "Designer for a Day" job-shadowing experiences.

The Grand Prize winner receives an Apple iPod digital music player.
