Born in a small town Quincy, Florida, even Dean Mitchell didn't believe he had the chance to become the painter he is today. With the encouragement of his grandmother, Mitchell was able to rise above extreme poverty to attend school where he honed his craft. Mitchell is considered as not only one of the top, but the top watercolorist in the United States. His paintings span a breadth of time and subject matter.
The Ohio Connection
Dean Mitchell attended the Columbus College of Art & Design in Columbus, Ohio. He later became an artist for Hallmark Cards, also located in Ohio. Mitchell recently held a successful one-man show of his watercolors at the Canton Museum of Art from November 2010 to March 6, 2011.
