VCIM 1570 Web Publishing I

COURSE DESCRIPTION

Foundational web design, planning and construction with emphasis on web standards, usability and accessibility. Students construct web pages in XHTML and CSS using basic text-editing software. Topics include analysis of how and why a website succeeds or fails, aesthetics and visual design for web, planning, creation, uploading and registration of sites, troubleshooting, search engine optimization and basic marketing strategies.

My Goals in taking this course:

My main goal in taking this class is to become more comfortable with the knowledge, writing, understanding and execution of CSS style sheets and XHTML. When I say "comfortable" I mean I would like to have this language down-pat and memorized backwards and forwards. The purpose of this goal...to gain employment. I enjoy design and the explosiveness of the combination of typography and design on a printed piece. So in learning HTML I hope to transfer my skills and talent in design to this wonderful, colorful, instant, mobile palette called the world wide web.

Stay tuned...through the weeks I hope to be able to grasp this language and manipulate the content of HTML with these CSS style sheets and create magic.
